Content pillars are the 3 to 5 themes you post about again and again. Here is how to choose yours, with examples for shops, services and creators.
If you sit down every day wondering "what should I post?", you don't have a content problem. You have a pillar problem. Content pillars give every post a home.
What Is a Content Pillar?
A content pillar is a main theme that your posts belong to. Most accounts need only three to five. Each pillar should be something your audience cares about and something you can keep talking about for months.
Examples of Content Pillars
Clothing Shop
- New arrivals and styling ideas
- Behind the scenes (stitching, packing orders)
- Customer photos and reviews
- Care tips (washing, storing)
- Offers and sale days
Service Business (tutor, Clinic, Consultant)
- Tips and common questions
- Results and success stories (with permission)
- Your process: what happens when someone books
- Myths and mistakes
- Personal story: why you started
Creator or Influencer
- Your main niche (food, fashion, tech…)
- Day in the life / GRWM
- Opinions and reviews
- Community: Q&A, polls, replies to comments
- Trends done your way
How to Choose Your Pillars in 10 Minutes
- Write down the 10 questions customers or followers ask you most.
- Group them into 3 to 5 buckets. Those buckets are your pillars.
- Add one pillar that shows the human side (you, your team, your process).
- Give each pillar a day of the week. Now you have a content calendar.
In BeSocialist, the Ideas page already groups ideas into categories like these, so you can fill a week of posts in a few clicks.
