What Is a Hook?
A hook is the first line of a post or the first second of a video. On most apps people only see about one line before “…more”, so the hook has one job: make them want the rest.
Hooks That Work
- A question the reader wants answered.
- A number: “3 mistakes…”, “5 ways…”.
- A mistake or warning: people hate losing more than they like winning.
- POV or a story: puts the reader inside a moment.
Skip greetings like “Hi everyone” and start with the point. And keep your promise: a hook that the post doesn’t deliver on loses trust.
