Best Time to Post on Social Media

Good starting times for each app, then a simple way to find the time that works for your own followers.

Honest note: no single time is best for everyone. The times below are common starting points (in your followers’ local time) that many scheduling tools and marketers agree on. Your own followers are what really counts, so test and adjust.

Best time to post on Instagram

9 am – 1 pm and 6 – 9 pm

Weekdays; Sunday evening is often good too

People check Instagram before work, at lunch and after dinner.

Best time to post on TikTok

12 – 3 pm and 6 – 10 pm

Every day; evenings are strongest

TikTok is mostly watched in free time, so evenings and weekends work well.

Best time to post on LinkedIn

8 – 11 am

Tuesday to Thursday

It's a work app: people browse at the start of the working day.

Best time to post on Facebook

9 am – 1 pm

Weekdays

Steady daytime use; community posts also do well in the evening.

Best time to post on YouTube

Publish 2 – 3 hours before your viewers' evening

Thursday to Sunday for longer videos

Videos need a little time to be picked up before people sit down to watch.

Best time to post on Pinterest

8 – 11 pm

Evenings and weekends

People plan projects, recipes and outfits when they relax.

Best Time to Post by Day of the Week

DayWhat usually works
MondayLate morning (10 am – 12 pm). People settle into the week first.
TuesdayOne of the strongest days on most apps: morning and early evening.
WednesdayStrong all day. A good day for your most important post.
ThursdayStrong mornings, and a good day to publish YouTube videos.
FridayMornings are good; attention drops in the afternoon as the weekend starts.
SaturdayLater mornings (10 am onward) and evenings. Great for TikTok and Reels.
SundayEvenings work well as people plan their week.

Followers in Another Time Zone?

Always plan in your audience’s time zone, not yours. In many countries people are most active late in the evening, so also test 8 pm to 11 pm local time. Holidays and festive seasons change routines too, so re-test your best time when they come around.

How to Find Your Own Best Time (in 3 Weeks)

  1. Check when your followers are online: Instagram and Facebook show this in your professional dashboard or insights.
  2. Post the same kind of content at two different times for two weeks.
  3. Compare saves, shares, comments and reach, then keep the winner and test a new time.

Posting at a good time helps a little. Posting something people care about helps a lot. For ideas, see our content pillars guide, and use scheduling so you never have to be on your phone at the perfect minute.
